Your shoulders have been up by your ears since March.

River Stone is one therapist, one room, and fourteen years of hands that find what you couldn't describe. Clinical enough to fix the desk neck; quiet enough that you'll lose track of the hour.

The work

Three reasons people find this room.

The Desk Body

Neck, shoulders, forearms, and the hip flexors that forgot how to lengthen. Targeted clinical work plus the homework stretch that actually helps (there's only ever one).

Most booked · 60 min

The Athlete & The Gardener

Sports massage and deep tissue for training loads, weekend overdoing, and the lower back that seizes every spring. Firm, specific, communicative.

Usually 90 min

The Frayed Nervous System

Slow, flowing, unhurried work for the people who arrive vibrating. You don't have to have a knot to deserve an hour of quiet.

How I work

Small practice. On purpose.

i.

Same hands, every time

No rotating staff — your history, preferences, and that spot by your left shoulder blade are remembered, not re-explained.

ii.

Five sessions a day, max

Hands that did eight massages already can't do their best work on the ninth. The cap keeps every hour honest.

iii.

Honest scope

Massage helps most tension and many pains — and when yours needs a PT, a physician, or imaging instead, I'll say so and refer you.

"Fourteen months of desk-neck headaches. Three sessions and one stubborn stretch later, I'd forgotten to have one. She remembered exactly where we left off, six weeks apart."

Desk-body regular · every 5 weeks
Quiet answers

First-timer questions, welcomed

I've never had a professional massage. What happens?

Ten minutes of talking — what hurts, what you want, pressure preferences — then the room is yours. Undress to your comfort level; you're draped the entire time and only the area being worked is uncovered. Most first-timers' anxiety survives about four minutes.

Is deep tissue supposed to hurt?

"Productive intensity" yes, wincing no — pain makes muscles guard, which defeats the work. The pressure dial is yours mid-session, and using it is a skill I'll keep inviting you to use.

How often should I actually come?

Honestly: for chronic tension, every 4–6 weeks maintains what weekly sessions build. The five-pack exists for the rebuild phase; after that, most regulars settle into every five weeks. I'll never book you more than your body needs.

Can I use HSA/FSA or insurance?

HSA/FSA cards work directly. For insurance plans with massage benefits (some do, especially with a referral), I provide coded superbills — a five-minute reimbursement form on your end.
