ISA-certified arborists · Fully insured, climb & crane

We save the trees worth saving. And drop the rest safely.

Canopy & Crown is run by certified arborists, not just chainsaw crews — which means the first question is whether your tree needs removal at all. About a third of our "remove this tree" calls end in a $300 pruning instead.

Pruning & Preservation

Structural pruning, deadwood removal, cabling and bracing — done to ANSI A300 standards, not "topped" into a coat rack. Topping kills trees; we don't do it, and we'll explain why.

"Two companies quoted removal at $4,800. Canopy & Crown quoted a $340 structural prune and said the oak had another fifty years. It's been three — so far, so good."

Grounded answers

Before anyone climbs

How do I know if my tree is actually dangerous?

Warning signs: mushrooms at the base, bark falling in sheets, a new lean, or dead limbs over things you love. The free assessment settles it — and since our arborists aren't paid per removal, "it's fine, prune it in fall" is an answer we give weekly.

Why do tree quotes vary so wildly?

Insurance and method. An uninsured crew with a pickup is cheap until a limb meets your roof — then it's your homeowner's claim. Our quotes itemize climb vs. crane and include the $2M certificate. Compare like for like.

Do I need the city's permission to remove a tree?

Sometimes — heritage-size trunks and street trees usually require permits here. We check and file them as part of the job; a company that says "just don't tell anyone" is volunteering you for the fine.

What happens to the wood?

Your call: bucked into firewood lengths, chipped into mulch (free, left on site), or hauled away. Milling-quality trunks can go to a local sawyer — we'll broker the intro on beautiful wood.
